Re: Used soul 65 mile round trip

Otoh, with a 240V 16A portable charger at work, you could do both legs from 80% down to (say) 45%, which would be excellent for prolonging the battery life, and give a comfortable reserve.

Re: Brakes seized on new Soul EV after 10 months

Something like this is good. However, I have a suspicion that the battery monitor (black box on the +ve terminal) can cause false readings, so I would disconnect the +ve terminal before applying the meter.

Re: SK Innovation doubles EV battery production

That only works if supply matches demand. I have an idea they could sell more if they could make more.

Re: No options for a Bike Rack?

My understanding is that KIA do not want the EV consumption figures to be discredited by towing or carrying things on the roof, so the dealers will say no. However, I believe the tow hitch attachment points are there on the EVs, so the hitch could be fitted. e.g. link Also, the roof carriage accesso...

Re: Watchdog App... maybe.

I have a 2018 (30kWh) Soul EV and the recommended KW902 OBD2 adapter. It works with Soul EV Spy and Torque, so I expect it could access the data you want, but I would need my hand held to learn how to provide the files. In case you are not aware, the above apps are not currently able to provide &quo...

Re: End of the line for combustion engines?

Having driven both battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, I personally would lean towards using battery electric for passenger vehicles, rather than fuel cell. Mainly because of the regenerative breaking. Not only do they save your disk breaks, but they also increase your range. This is ...

Well, that prompted me to look deeper into the issue, and I am encouraged by what I found: https://hydrogeneurope.eu/hydrogen-storage#:~:text=Finally%2C%20hydrogen%20can%20be%20stored%20as%20a%20sorbate,crystalline%20aluminosilicates%20%28zeolites%29%20or%20microscopically%20small%20carbon%20nanotub...

Re: End of the line for combustion engines?

Just to add - the US Army has experimented with safe compact hydrogen storage. The hydrogen is adsorbed into a sponge-like insert in the pressure vessel, allowing vastly increased storage for little extra weight, and, even if punctured by gunfire, the vessels did not explode, just slowly released th...

I have the 30kWh battery (10th character of VIN is "J", build date Oct 2017 - i.e. 2018 model as I understand it). My dealer says there are no outstanding updates. Could my car have the BMS update from new?
