Re: brakes failed

I've been thinking about the 'brake failure' issue for a while. Something occurred to me: there is a difference between an EV and an ICE when it comes to pedal misapplication. In an ICE, if you're in Neutral and you press the accelerator when you mean to press the brake, the pedal goes to the floor ...

Re: Battery degradation

I've been wondering about range in cold weather recently - do we know at what temperature the battery heater is activated?

Re: Setting up Torque to show BMS data

255 is computer-speak for -1, if the thing is a "signed 8-bit value".
Then 254 is -2, 253 is -3 and so on.
Maybe Torque has a way of saying "this value is signed"?

Re: Charger installation costs

My guy used 4mm2 cable to install my chargepoint, and I wished he had used 6mm2 as the wires get distinctly warm during charging, so obviously I am wasting energy, maybe 3-4 Watts per metre. However, 6mm2 is only about 9 AWG according to http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/awg-wire-gauge-d_731.html so...

Re: Soul Spy?

Hmmm, we need a friendly engineer at Kia to help us... perhaps we could persuade them that it is safer for them to tell us the codes we need than for us to try to find them!

Re: Charge Time Question

The Soul assumes you want to charge 'on the timer' unless you have the override button pressed in (it's a toggle switch). It baffled us at first, but once you get it, it's really simple. The exception is fast charging which, for obvious reasons, always happens as soon as you plug the big connector i...

Re: Trip Summary Question

I'm pretty sure it doesn't display the kWh used for each trip.

It displays the distance of each trip, and whatever the average-mpk meter showed at the end of the trip. In order to see the correct mpk you need to reset the average-mpk meter at the beginning of each trip, which is slightly annoying.
