Re: SK Innovation doubles EV battery production

- SK Innovation has begun producing batteries in Hungary, Europe. Factory #1 opened in January 2020 and produces 7.5GWh. Some of these batteries have been going to Hyundai's car plant in Czech for Hyundai Konas. SK Innovation is thought to have supplied batteries for 12,000 Kona Electric vehicles bu...

A simple test to know how hot the road surface is. Can you fry an egg on it?
If you can't no need to worry about a carport to protect your battery.

Re: In Summer it's best to park in the shade.

- No. I live in Jeju, South Korea. It is hot here in summer, but nothing like the daytime Phoenix temperatures. For your battery to last you need to keep the battery temperatures below 45C. In summer the black asphalt road surface can easily heat up above this on a hot summer day. For this reason I ...

Re: Which Electric car battery is the most durable ?

[...]Of the car manufacturers Tesla, GM and BMW have built the best TMS systems to keep their battery packs at optimal temperatures. Renault, Nissan and Kia are the worst. [...] With regards to Kia, that's what I'd expect for the air cooled 2019 and earlier Soul EV. Is that still true for 2020 and ...

Re: Harder braking and battery died

- I now think my reply above that suggested this was a serious safety issue because of faulty brakes was wrong. It is regen braking that fails because of a bad battery. The real brakes are fine. I have seen this issue on a severely degraded battery. A 2011 Hyundai Blueon EV.. Here's a quote I wrote ...

Re: Hyundai Motor to recall Kona EV in South Korea over concern of fire risk.

- The Good news for us is that there is no issue with Kia Cars. Either the N iro EV or the new Soul EV. They share the same BMS and thermal system as the Kona, but use SK cells not LG. More news on the problem with Kona EV. It seems that all the 13 fires were caused by L2 charging, and most occurred...
