Re: Decreased Range?

Hmm, so since we have very little info on battery longevity in this vehicle, for this vehicle at this point, I did some research on SK Innovation (the battery supplier for the Soul). http://energy.gov/sites/prod/files/2014/05/f15/APR13_Energy_Storage_d_III_Adv_Battery_Dev_0.pdf The battery tested i...

Re: Soul Spy?

To continue the series of how other groups hacked the CANBUS Toyota Prius owners use OBD2 over Bluetooth. see Gen2 Prius: Custom PIDs for Torque (Android App) with formulas Their GoogleDocs spreadsheet is laid in a style that can be directly imported ! With instructions on how to import the found PI...

Re: Soul Spy?

The second software I tested was TorquePro with the plug-in TorqueScan. This also successfully connects to the CANBUS and reads vehicle data. http://oi58.tinypic.com/wi3ev4.jpg Again I would need to add a custom list of PIDs in order to use this. I did run the TorqueScan tool for a few hours. It che...

Re: Soul Spy?

I have begun testing my new Konnwei OBD2 Bluetooth adapter. My software of choice would be open source, so I first used AndrOBD from Fdroid. The initial page suggests the connection is working. http://oi62.tinypic.com/140vgyc.jpg I will now have to add a custom PID list so that it can see other data...

Re: SK Innovation doubles EV battery production

Global sales of Soul EV for July - 725; August - 796. Majority of these cars are going to Europe (Norway, Germany) The story I have heard is that next year's increase in battery production will add a further 400MWh (700MWh -> 1.1GWh). So it is possible the sales figures will go up to 1300 a month ne...

Re: Am I crazy for wanting to buy instead of lease?

The short answer is lease. Cost to buy = 25,000USD Cost to lease then buy = 11,000 lease + 10,000 used cost = 21,000USD You get the same car for less. The long answer requires understanding why the value of some EVs depreciates so fast in the first 3 years. For this I recommend looking at the sister...

Re: Soul Spy?

The SparkEV hacking pages are really interesting. The topic begins here: http://www.mychevysparkev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3926&start=10 They have the same dilemmas as us - "It's tempting to buy a cheap Chinese MDI clone from Aliexpress for $200 and a 3-day GDS2 subscription for ...

Re: Road Trip: Another 1600 miles with 1st emergency tow!

That's a great link - thanks.
And welcome to the forum.
A couple of tips intrigued me.
To get a full 100% charge you need to trickle charge L1 after completing the L2 charge.
To get a better idea of maximum range multiply the GOM by 1.3

Re: Soul Spy?

Tyrel: I think you have already realised the answer to your first question. "...there's nothing that looks like it could be the voltages of all 96 cells of the battery. Maybe that has to be retrieved another way?" This data is almost certainly got by querying the Battery Energy Control Mod...

Re: Check Brake warning

That is an expensive repair 6238 dollars for an Integrated Brake Actuation Unit (IBAU). Warranty covered it I assume. I didn't know what an IBAU was so I looked it up in the Service Manual. http://oi57.tinypic.com/i52902.jpg Am worried that once the warranty period expires repairs on this car will b...
