Re: Going on Vacation

Re-connected the 12V and started the car again today. (4 weeks unused)
The main battery had exactly the same charge as I left.
The only item in the computer reset was the Eco Level.
History, Address Book ... was all still there.

Problems with fast chargers.

- I live on Jeju, an island off the south coast of South Korea. In the last few weeks the number of EV's on the island doubled to about 3000. (Soul fans will be glad to know that more than 1000 of those are Souls). Every car has its own L2 Smart Grid connected c harger and there is a also a fairly s...

Re: L3 Charging rates

In future I will collect data for a month and average it out. This will reduce the measurement error. A comparison can then be made between say July 2015 and July 2016. I have the feeling that ambient temperature and humidity make quite a difference so it is probably best to compare like with like.

Re: B Mode

There is a really good article about magnetic braking here - http://www.bmwblog.com/2015/07/10/a-mag ... tesla-70d/
I have been driving in 'B' mode for the last week and I like it. Single pedal driving has not been well explained in the past.

Re: Little things owners have noticed on the Soul EV

That BMW article about magnetic braking is really worth a read. First thing I have seen that properly explains 'B' mode. As for the BMW The i3 is rear-wheel drive, and therefore the magnetic braking is through the rear wheels only. Since the front wheels are the most effective at braking (due to wei...

Re: Driving Efficiency

There is obviously a software bug as the three figures (Driving Range, Efficiency and Driving Efficiency History) do not agree. There is no such error in my 3 month old car. I have noticed more recently that the reset only occurs if you "fully charge" to 84% with the DC quick charger I ju...

Re: Going on Vacation

For short vacation periods it should not be necessary to disconnect the 12V. Yes. I am going to be away for 4 weeks which is why I thought of asking. Here's an account from someone in Norway who didn't disconnect the 12V The car has been sitting unused in the garage, and somehow the 12V battery has...

Re: L3 Charging rates

I assume "Proj Batter Capacity:" is the projected battery capacity of the car. What meaning does the variation in the numbers have? In the two charges I posted above the figures are 18/.6 = 30kWh 16.7/.58 = 28.8kWh My range has remained normal. I doubt my battery capacity has actually decr...

Going on Vacation

I am going on vacation in August. I just checked with KIA what to do with the battery. They said just disconnect the negative terminal of the 12V battery. This is the same procedure as for the Nissan Leaf mentioned here http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11209#p257652 I recommend ge...

Re: L3 Charging rates

Today I charged my car at a quick charger that was almost 50% faster. I just charged from 22% to 80% in 22 minutes. At the start the charger told me it would take 29 minutes. This charger is adjacent to the one I wrote about a few days ago. Some differences between the two chargers. The faster one i...
