Upgrading high-voltage battery

Sun May 19, 2019 5:17 am

I have 2017 Kia Soul EV. Will it be possible to replace current 30 KWh battery by a new 64 KWh battery in this model?

Kia is never going to do this for you, but if you are willing to do it yourself anything is possible.

An example here's an unusual DIY fix for a degraded 27lWh battery.
Put a replacement 60kWh battery from a wrecked B olt EV into the boot.

There's some interesting discussion on this topic at the N issan L eaf Forum.

Someone there has actually designed a board to go between the BMS and the car's control unit in order to allow battery replacements.
