this is an ev-plus
$34,111 for the car
$15,400 residual value
$349 per month
$0 drive-off
36 months
12,000 miles/year
monthly payment includes sales tax, registration & fees and lease acquisition fee.

Sounds like you're getting a slightly better deal than I did. I'm paying less a month, but I had to pay a lot up front (7.5% sales tax on the MSRP, uggh).

I got a very similar deal which I thought it was a good deal.
2016 Plus model
$34,400 price
$16,800 residual
$0 down
$300.01 / mo
36 mos
12k miles per year

I wonder if Soul EV lease rates will drop soon, now that BMW i3 has an advertised 2-year lease of $229/month and 10K miles per year.

Oh WOW. The lease rates advertised on BMW USA for my area are *nothing* like that:

2015 BMW i3 Mega World
$439/mo for 36 months
10,000 miles/year
$7,500 down payment
3.25% APR
plus taxes, title, registration, license, and doc fees (another $3500-$4000)

Here's where I ended up:

2016 Kia Soul EV + with Sun & Fun (Lease)
- MSRP: $38,135
- Negotiated Sale Price: $34,990
- Effective Cost: $26,085 ($34,990 negotiated price - $7500 federal rebate - $2k Kia rebate + $595 acquisition cost)
- $294/month
- 36 months
- 12k miles/year
- Due at signing: DMV Fees ($300), Doc Fees ($167) and first month's payment ($294)
- Total cost of lease (monthlies + DMV/Doc) = $11,056

(No sales tax, as there is none in WA for EVs with a Sale Price of under $35k)

Yikes we get ripped off here!

Freight alone was $1750 before the dealer tacks on their PDI and other nonsense.. which typically they will not negotiate. Car cost is around $39700. Very limited test drives too, as the dealers don't want to accumulate miles on their cars.
Then, 13% sales tax on top of the total price!
Also our residual on a 2016 Soul luxury is $14,300 CAD after 48 months... so that hurts too.
Saving grace is an $8500 rebate from the province.

This is the deal I got with a 682 credit score at Kia Irvine, 2016 Soul+ with sun and fun pkg, cargo tray, wheel locks and carpeted floor mats.
MSRP price: $38135.00
Capitalized gross cost $33942.75
Acquisition fee $595.00
Federal Credit -$7500.00
Kia Incentive -$2000.00
Residual value 43%: $16398.05
Money Factor: 0.0005900

36 months/36K miles
$1000.00 down that includes my first payment.
$300.00 each month (sales tax included)
Now I'm waiting for may approved rebate of $2500.00 from the State of California.
Not sure if this was a great deal but I'm very pleased with the car.

That is a good deal. When I was looking at a Kia Soul EV I was getting a EV base at this price after much negotiation. You got a + with fun and sun so yes this is a good deal. I did no purchase a Soul as there is no service support in Arizona.

Wow... it appears that I got a horrible deal on my lease. After I was assured that I was getting the best possible price, I wound up putting $3500 down and have a $375 a month payment for 36 months. I don't have my paperwork in front of me but I'll have to see if they lowered the price to get me out of the taxable range or not. Sounds like I definitely should have done more homework. The dealer came highly recommended and I have to say that everyone was very nice. That "niceness" may not carry to the financial department. I bought or leased my last 6 vehicles from a Ford dealer and always was treated fairly. I guess I felt that this was how car dealers now operated since there is so much competition due to access to the internet. I think I was wrong!!

The initial offer that I received for the base model is $2k down, $250/mo. for 36 months. That works out to a total lease cost of almost $11k or $305/mo.

Would appreciate reactions to this deal I'm considering:
Soul EV (middle model)
36 mo
10k miles
$2500 drive off
$227/mo including tax. 237/mo for 12k miles.

What is your location? I'd try to get them lower on the drive off and do the 12K miles lease.

Just leased a EV+

36 mos, 10k/yr

Price = $34k + $1490 "additional cap items" = gross cap $35,490
Cap cost reduction = $11k from Kia (includes $7,500 fed credit) + $281 (part of my drive away) = $11,281
Residual = $15,498
Money factor = .00081 = 1.944%
Monthly payments = $280.84 including "wear & tear" & sales tax
Disposition fee = $400

I just applied for the CA $2500 rebate.
