i've ordered a home evse charger, but the seller hasn't responded to my question if it needs a neutral wire in addition to the two hot leads. anyone know if they're all the same, as i want to buy the 8 wire, but need to konw if it has to be 8-2 or 8-3.
thanx

It shouldn't need the neutral, just the two hots and ground. My Bosch EVSE doesn't have anywhere to terminate the neutral at all so the neutral needs to be cut back and taped up. What brand is the EVSE you have ordered? You can often find the installation manual online.

EVSE PILOT signal (to control current of the onboard charger in the car) need the EARTH (0v GND) because it's a 12v signal (GND is at the EARTH conductor).

POWER wires is not the point, main contactor control this.
