Well the Mrs washed my jeans with the keyfob in it, opened it up after and found it is rather well sealed with a rubber gasket - it appeared to be completely dry. Left it open for a day just in case, still works great!
Kudos to Kia to have that kind of attention to detail, I figured my fob would be toast.
