Re: Soul EV Spy Questions and Answers

The newest BMS update is necessary for Kia to approve battery replacement, my dealer applied for a battery replacement last year but Kia told them to update the BMS first. Obviously the SOH was above 70% after the update, so Kia didn’t approve the application. So please don’t blame your dealer, thi...

Re: Soul EV Spy Questions and Answers

See https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10143399-9999.pdf Top of Page 2. Multiple cycles <20% to >90%. Having done that, I suggest you print it and show it to them if they argue. The KIA procedure for reading the SOH is at https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10133173-9999.pdf It sounds l...

Re: Original Bag/Case for Charging Cord

Mine came in a fabric zip-up case, about 14" diameter and about 4" deep. Black with red piping (from memory). If you can't find it, see if you can get one from a dealer for less - they can't charge more than $50, can they? Or see https://www.amazon.com/Bucket-Boss-69000-Cable-Bag/dp/B00GK4...

Re: Range for Fully Charged(?) 2017 Soul

It depends where you are - how warm/cold it is. The GOM value will reflect ambient temperatures. Also, the battery will not charge quite as well in cold temperatures. You can get a better idea by looking at the energy information in the display EV mode. You can see the range with and without heating...

Re: S1 At Home Charging Problems: 2018 Soul

The parking brake light always goes out when the door is opened - and if the driving lamps are on, they will also go out. It does not affect the charging. You do not have to use the timer facility. Pressing the button in overrides the timer setting, and charging should start immediately. You should ...

Re: New at Home Charging Concerns

Level 2 chargers range typically from 16A to 32A. See this survey . The higher the current, the quicker the charge. An electrician can determine whether your outlet and wiring could support a particular charger. It may need heavier wiring as well as a different outlet, depending on your choice of ch...

Re: Almost no offerings in the South East of the US?

Beware of EVs from California (the hot parts). The batteries will have suffered from the heat, and I expect you will have no warranty outside the US. That probably applies to the SE US as well.

If you buy from a dealer, perhaps you could get a warranty as regards the battery SOH.

Re: How much kWh does a full charge take?

Whilst researching my range issues (getting only ±50 km on a full charge) , I looked at my charging history and found that the car only takes about 9-10 kWh to charge from ±3% to ±80%. This seems strange to me, as the battery can hold 27 kWh.... From the above, and disregarding charging losses, you...

Re: Adding a Level 2 Charger at my Home?

You need to follow the local regulations for where you live. In the UK, your charger would need to be permanently wired and supplied through a dedicated Type B RCBO ( Residual Current Circuit Breaker with Overcurrent Protection) and grounded via a local earth rod or special electronic unit. This is ...
