Re: 2016 Soul EV+ ... is my battery eligible for replacement?

The GOM takes some number of cycles to update to new conditions, as it seems to be influenced heavily by historic data - my case about 2 months, but I only use typically 50% of the battery over 6 days, so yours perhaps 2 weeks? As for the fault code, you should take it to the dealer, even if the fau...

Re: Slow Level 2 charging

Yes, that's true. I don't know where I got the idea it was only introduced in 2017. https://www.kia.parts/v-2015-kia-soul-ev--plus--electric/electric-propulsion-system--cooling-system Item 5.

Re: The origin of the 'B' mode setting.

I agree with all you said. As for the fear that a large amount of regenerative braking would have an adverse effect on the battery, I have found the opposite. My battery's SOH has improved from 95% to 102% since I acquired the car, and I always use B Mode. I was recently loaned a Mazda EV while my c...

Re: Slow Level 2 charging

This sounds like a BMS problem. The car signals the charger the level of current it wants, and it seems to be getting that wrong, sending the wrong signal on the CP line. Apparently, the early BMS are rather unreliable, so you should get a replacement under the warranty. If you want to look up the d...

Re: Can a bad auxiliary (12v) battery prevent EV system charging?

It's quite possible that the OBC requires 12V power to function. It seems likely that the propulsion battery is "off" when being charged, so it cannot power the dc-dc converter, in which case a dodgy 12V battery could be causing the issue. Most battery outlets will test a battery at no cha...

Re: battery replacement advise

Not a bad idea. Se what you are offered for it. Should be a ready market for it with a new battery.

On the other hand, replacement batteries in Europe are using the new technology cells which are much more robust.

Re: UVO Modem down

Judging by what others have reported, if it falls below 70% before the warranty is finished, you will get a replacement with new technology cells, which have both higher capacity and improved longevity. Probably last you a further (say) 15 years, if you treat them right (30% to 80% whenever possible...

Re: Emergency use of EPB

Well, I tried in D mode, and there was a difference (faster response, I think), but it was still not behaving properly. I decided to give it the best opportunity I could, by ditching the original Michelin tyres on the back, despite them still having plenty of tread, and fitting Goodyear 4Seasons G3 ...
