Re: used battery or remanufacured

I believe there is at least one workshop in Jordan which reconditions batteries, presumably by replacing bad cells with good ones. I don't know where they get the replacements - maybe from wrecked cars? I suggest you get a suitable bluetooth interface such as KONNWEI KW 903, and the SoulEVSpy app fo...

Re: Do I have a chance?

I have, fortunately, not had occasion to do so. I believe the person who originally posted the link to the TSB did so, with satisfactory result, but I cannot remember where that was.

Re: Do I have a chance?

The inference is that you did not, so you do not know if it would have been effective. It is obviously a matter of preference, but I take the optimistic view.

Re: Do I have a chance?

Re: Do I have a chance?

The dealer has nothing to gain by frustrating a chance for a new battery. He gets paid by KIA for fitting it. It is simply a question of getting the technician to understand the issue.

Re: Do I have a chance?

I also suspect once you'll need to recalibrate again after they get a reading below 70% since they like to "update" the BMS to "fix" the issue which resets the SoH to 110%. So you may have to do this twice within your warranty coverage. That has happened, but is expressly forbid...

Re: 20k km and no SOH reading yet

I suppose I would get an even more accurate guess if I used SoulSpy to see the state of charge down to a decimal too, eh? But then I'd have to go by the full size of the pack, not just the useable portion. It should improve accuracy to use the Spy SOC. If you use SOC_display_pct from Battery Manage...

Re: Analysis of a replacement battery.

...Though this does mean, having never drained the Soul EV below 18%, nor ever charged it to 100% in all the time we've owned it, we have NO idea what the SOH is. But Soul Spy reports that the cells are still nicely in balance, so there's likely no need. If they ever get enough out of balance to re...

Re: Do I have a chance?

Allegedly, taking the battery down repeatedly to turtle, and charging fast to 100% will cause maximum deterioration.

Re: Analysis of a replacement battery.

When I got my 30kWh model at 2 years old and 31,000 miles, I didn't know about Spy, but I calculated SOH based on dashboard data and charging records. If my method is valid, the SOH was 94% and the winter range (winters are mild here) was 112. I did eight charges (using the 10A plug-in charger) to 1...
