Re: Adding a Level 2 Charger at my Home?

Not exactly following this, as I'm not that familiar with electrical terms. So for right now, I am having some difficulties with my first attempt at charging. Dealer told he just plug in the Type 1 charger that comes with the car either to a regular electrical outlet. I am doing that. Earlier when ...

Re: Comparing layout of the Soul EV battery with other EVs

- C-rate is defined as the charge / discharge current divided by the nominally rated battery capacity. The nominally rated battery capacity of your pack is 80Ah. [...] Wikipedia indicates that the full pack size of the 2016-2019 Soul EVs is "31,8 kWh (200 x 42,36 Ah x 3,75 V)". Where do y...

Re: Comparing layout of the Soul EV battery with other EVs

Apologies for this but just scanning this thread and quickly looking st the last post (and the first), am I to believe that my 2018 30kWh Soul has an 85Ah battery and I shouldn't be charging it at any more than 0.25C , which is 21.25 amps or it will have a detrimental effect regarding battery degra...

Re: Does charging only to 80% really make a difference?

[...] Leaf Spy (and Soul Spy too I'm pretty sure) shows how many times your vehicle has been DC quick charged and this one showed that this former taxi had been quick charged about 7000 times ! Battery capacity was in the low 70s, which is not great, but considering that kind of abuse, I have to sa...

Re: Am I charging too often

Thank you. I will check that out. I was told by a serviceman at The dealership that charging every night to top it off is not necessary and may mess with the charging capacity I agree that charging to 100% every night is not only not necessary, but it's not desirable. You don't want the car sitting...

How did it end up working out for you?

Re: SoulEVspy with 2021 Soul EV

In a thread over on the first-gen Soul EV forums (here: https://www.mykiasoulev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1193&start=60 ) about SoulEVspy, it says the BMS won't calculate and/or cough up a SOH number until after a few cycles where you drain the car relatively low (such as below 10%) and/...

Re: Has anyone replaced their 12V battery with lithium?

Well, I live in Florida so the parallel 20AH setup works well for me (it rarely drops below 30F). I'm the one who did the lithium setup above. It's been a while since you posted about it. Any additional feedback about your lithium 12v installation? I'm hesitant to make the change unless and until t...

Re: Roll call for PacNW Soul EV owners!

I’m in Graham, WA; S of Puyallup with 52k miles on our 2016, black w red roof. No other Soul EV owners active in the Seattle EV Association, so sign on, folks! I commuted 75 miles one-way in it for a year before upgrading a 2011 LEAF to 40 kWh as a demonstration project for http://www.EV-works.com,...

Re: US DOE EV Sales Data

Cool data, thank you! I wonder how leases (and especially lease returns) are handled in the data, are they ever a a sale? Many U.S. lease returns of e-cars seem to get imported into British Columbia. :)
