Re: Kia Soul EV sales figures

- I used to keep track of the original Soul EV data. see SK Innovation doubles EV battery production That finished two years ago. Final tally was. The figures are ( Year :- Overseas + Domestic = Total ) 2014 :- 1,017 + 414 = 1,431 2015 :- 7,286 + 1,116 = 8,402 2016 :- 7,123 + 729 = 7,852 2017 :- 8,...

Kia Soul EV sales figures

Anyone seen any global sales figures for the Kia Soul EV for recent months/years? I wonder how the Soul EV is doing as the number of EV options proliferate, and Kia starts rolling out the EV6 in some markets. Despite the EV6 coming, they still launched a revision of the e-Niro, so it's by no sure th...

Re: 20k km and no SOH reading yet

If you are in this situation, it is possible to calculate the SOH. After charging, reset the m/kWh (shows "--" when reset). Note the mileage and the battery %age if not 100%. At the next charge note the mileage and the battery %age before charging commences and note the m/kWh. Divide the ...

Re: Analysis of a replacement battery.

...Though this does mean, having never drained the Soul EV below 18%, nor ever charged it to 100% in all the time we've owned it, we have NO idea what the SOH is. But Soul Spy reports that the cells are still nicely in balance, so there's likely no need. If they ever get enough out of balance to re...

Re: Do I have a chance?

The battery on my 2015 Kia soul ev started showibg signs of reduced capacity in august. The dealer measured 85%. After that it went down all fall until it reached 72.4 dec 3rd. Since that they measure 72.4 evrery time. Based on my mileage and how much the chargers give I think I am below 60 now (ch...

Re: Analysis of a replacement battery.

When I got my 30kWh model at 2 years old and 31,000 miles, I didn't know about Spy, but I calculated SOH based on dashboard data and charging records. If my method is valid, the SOH was 94% and the winter range (winters are mild here) was 112. I did eight charges (using the 10A plug-in charger) to ...

Re: Analysis of a replacement battery.

- It is now 2 years since I had the battery replaced on my white 27kWh 2015 Soul EV. On December 30th 2019 the car had driven 86,993km before getting a new battery. On December 30th 2021 the odometer reads 116,590km. That's 29,597km on the new battery. Here's the latest Torque reading https://abloa...

Re: Any notion of what's coming for 2022?

AWD has more driveshafts to rotate and more universal joints on those driveshafts, that gives a small inefficiency. There are 2 parts to handling in the snow and other slippery conditions. Firstly, can you get traction - this is directly related to where the weight is in the vehicle. A heavy ICE, g...

Re: Any notion of what's coming for 2022?

I'm beginning to form a view that the amount of regen available to the driver is probably determined by the designer, rather than the physical limits. However, I was thinking that, in conditions of poor grip, it is better to split the available regen between four wheels rather than limit it to two....

Re: Any notion of what's coming for 2022?

..... I'm told that FWD is generally superior to RWD for winter driving in snow/ice (though AWD is better than either). That is true for ICE and EV as regards traction, but an ICE with AWD derives no benefit as regards braking, whereas an AWD EV will benefit due to four wheel regeneration. All my c...
