Re: Analysis of a replacement battery.

...Is the BMS firmware different for the different battery chemistries? My '16 Kia Soul EV recently got a 37510-E4200R battery replacement. I noticed that the SOH still reads 68.4%, same as when I brought it in. I assumed that they would need to update the BMS firmware to handle the new chemistry, ...

Re: Using Level 1 Charger Outdoors

-
It is quite normal for public charging equipment to be outside.
Why should there be a difference to charging at home?

Re: Cells in HV battery

...355,2V * 75Ah = 26 640 Wh ~~27kWh battery pack nware0. You too have to be more careful when making rushed comments. The nominal voltage of the 27kWh pack is 360V. 360V * 75Ah = 27kWh https://abload.de/img/batteryq3j96.png From Kia Canada: Emergency Rescue Guide Manual : Soul EV Ian's comment des...

Re: Cells in HV battery

...Unless you have cells which swelled up and damaged the basket, why would you need a replacement basket? Ian, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but you need to think more before posting. Both here and on the SpeakEV site some of your recent comments have been badly thought out. The basket referred to...

Re: Bosch charger fried and 2016 will not charge

...I'm trying to figure out if the car killed the Bosch charger or vice versa. I its the car, will Kia pay for the Bosch? Kia has never admitted any fault. They are unlikely to do so now. It is only Bosch chargers that do this when the Kia OBC goes wrong. I am surprised Bosch hasn't updated their E...

Re: Cells in HV battery

- There's some interesting battery videos from Ukraine. In the first one we see the swollen battery cell from a failed pack. They show a video from a car that has an 80km GOM at 100% but turtles at 30km. This is a very failed battery. Reminds me of my old Hyundai Blueon. https://abload.de/img/swolle...

Re: Bosch charger fried and 2016 will not charge

- This was a common error about 5 years ago. Discussed at length on the Charging Fault Error thread. For a list of 'smoked' Bosch EVSE's see Dec 2016 : Charging Fault error Almost everyone got a replacement OBC from warranty and this hasn't been much of an issue recently. Let's hope all the replacem...

Re: Cells in HV battery

- No. They are not just sending new cells to be replaced out in re manufactured packs. It's a different part number and a very different price. One comes from the battery manufacturer in South Korea, the other comes from a re-manufacturing plant in Texas. Looking at the Kia parts website - Kia Soul ...
