Re: Any notion of what's coming for 2022?

AWD has more driveshafts to rotate and more universal joints on those driveshafts, that gives a small inefficiency. There are 2 parts to handling in the snow and other slippery conditions. Firstly, can you get traction - this is directly related to where the weight is in the vehicle. A heavy ICE, ge...

Re: UVO Modem down

Here in Canada we never had UVO. Entertainment including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay works. Charge timers and preheat times both work.

Re: 12 volt dead suspect climate control...

Is the car is being left plugged in all the time when not in use? That can cause the 12V to drain because the computers keep waking up to check if it should be charging / preheating, and because it doesn't need that then it never turns on the power which would recharge the 12V.

Re: 12 volt dead suspect climate control...

I suspect you just had a 12V that died by itself. The problem with EVs is that you get no warning if they are going bad. I think your dealer is advising you based on how ICE cars work where the 12V battery gets heavy use starting and doesn't get much chance to charge when driving a short distance at...

Re: Winter Tires? All Weather Tires?

Full winters on steel rims is my recommendation and what I use. A winter tyre is not only about the tread pattern, it's about the rubber compound being soft enough to grip the cold road. Switchover time is 7 Centigrade, and with them on rims it is easy enough to do it yourself. Note that tyres are n...

Re: 2016 Soul EV+ ... is my battery eligible for replacement?

There's only coolant, gear oil, brake fluid, and windscreen washer fluid in the Soul EV, plus a little bit of compressor oil in the AC system. Smell and feel of the fluid can help more than colour when trying to determine what it is.

Re: Resolved: Heat pump stopped working after climate software update SA427, fixed via Kia Service Action 210031

The 2022 is going to be quite different from the 1st Gen models that this thread is about. I do think that the heat pump gets noisy if it is getting low on refrigerant, may be worth getting them to check the pressures.

Re: 2016 Soul EV+ ... is my battery eligible for replacement?

I don't think battery replacement touches the coolant system, that's all under the hood while the battery is under the car. I would check your coolant level and I definitely agree with taking it to the dealer for them to log the error code. If they did touch the coolant system it may be that they di...

Re: Slow Level 2 charging

I believe all the first generation have the fan in the trunk to draw the air through and cool the battery. The 2nd generation have a liquid cooled battery

Re: Slow Level 2 charging

One other thought as you are down in the south and it may be warm. If the DC fast charge is also very slow or refuses to start, see if the fan in the trunk floor is working properly - it should kick up in speed when DC fast charging to keep the battery cool. If you have an OBDII bluetooth dongle and...
