Re: My SoulEv "16 (battery questions)

When they updated the BMS it forgot the health of your battery. You need a few charges from < 20% to 100% for it to learn the health again. If you only ever charge to 80% it doesn't learn.

Re: How important is a battery warranty on a 2017 Kia Soul EV?

I would check the battery state of health. If it's good (and not just having had updates done that reset it to good), and given that you only plan to keep it for a few years then it's probably worth the risk. Otherwise I would take it back and get your money back as what they sold you (car with warr...

Re: Heat pump stopped working, no apparent cause

A little update. Dealer tried a fix, but it unfortunately didn’t work. I think it was a new SW update, but not 100% sure. Anyway the message they got from Kia Norway was that they were working hard on a solution, so both Kia and the dealer acknowledges the issue. But I got nothing in writing as usu...

Re: Am I charging too often

If it's reporting 16 miles and you aren't doing much more than that, then I think you have a battery that has gone bad. I suspect that when you bought the car it had just had a BMS update which clears what the BMS knows about the battery so it reports full range. Over the next little while it then l...

Re: Am I charging too often

It is saying 16 miles expected range but you are still doing a 60 mile trip? That's weird.

Re: Inaccurate energy consumption calcs on trip computer???

I checked while charging mine on a 240V 30A EVSE. After 1 hour my breaker is a similar temperature (there is a thermal element to breakers so this is expected), but everything else is at ambient to maybe 1C higher. Right now you don't have anything that is hot enough to cause a fire, but you are run...

Re: Inaccurate energy consumption calcs on trip computer???

Better for battery life to only charge to 80%.

Re: Turtle mode while attempting freeway speeds

OBD 2 dongle and Soul Spy will tell you what's going on, both with cell voltages and cell temperatures.

Re: Inaccurate energy consumption calcs on trip computer???

In theory it should trip after 3 hours. In practice it almost certainly will not. The breaker is measuring the current, it can't tell how hot any of the rest of the parts of the circuit is getting, If you have a brand new good quality socket with good contacts and good connections to it, you'll prob...

Re: Torque PIDs question. CEC and CED Reset?

CEC and CED are values in the BMS. You may be able to set up Torque to do a difference between CED and a fixed value, with a reset option being to copy over the current CED value to that fixed value. Similarly for CEC.
