Re: Comparing layout of the Soul EV battery with other EVs

[...] C-rate is defined as the charge / discharge current divided by the nominally rated battery capacity. The nominally rated battery capacity of the pack is 180Ah. A rapid charge of 64kW will have a C-rate of about 1 on such a battery pack. Generally speaking for lithium ion batteries 0.25C is th...

Re: Replacement battery log: 2016 EV+ @ 43k mi.

Thank you for that! I did get the CarScanner app and a Veepak OBD (w/ iOS device; don't have Android) and tried looking for an "SOH measurement." The closest category I found that somewhat matched was: MAXIMUM DETERIORATION: 49.1%. (which makes sense if my car is only getting 50 miles ran...

Re: Differences between the 2020 and 2021 Kia Soul EV?

I found something relating to price for UVO service. Apparently, we are using the "lite" version. As for the paid versions, there are tiers. Take a look: https://www.petawawakia.com/2019/11/27/what-is-kias-uvo-intelligence/#:~:text=Kia's%20UVO%20Intelligence%2C%20and%20What%20You%20Need%2...

Re: Differences between the 2020 and 2021 Kia Soul EV?

One difference between the two is that MY2020 comes with 5 free years of UVO, while MY2021 only comes with 3 years. As for appearance, the green colour was dropped for 2021, and also for 2021 the word SOUL at the upper rear sides of the C (or D?) pillar is now filled in with a blue colour. Yeah, th...

Re: Buying a 2018

That's a great tip! What happens to one of those heaterless batteries in New Hampshire without the garage? More degradation? Batteries perform better in the heat, but degrade more quickly. Batteries perform more poorly in the cold, but degrade more slowly. That's why thermal management systems try ...

Re: Rumor - 2nd Gen Soul EV not coming to US

- It seems to be more than a rumor. The new Kia Soul EV is apparently never coming to the US ...Kia has completely removed the Soul EV from its US consumer website and wiped almost all mention of it from the company's US media site, too... What's more, while the 2020 model-year Soul EV received an ...

Re: Has anyone replaced their 12V battery with lithium?

They make "LT" (low temperature) variants of this battery. I wonder if that would be a better bet for me? I live in a very mild part of Canada, it rarely drops below freezing even in the middle of winter, but we do on very rare occasions get a winter cold snap that's below freezing. Howeve...

At least on the 2021 model, there's also a setting in the menus that lets you unplug while charging. By default it was set to lock the plug in the car while charging.
