I read in an article that the Toyo Versado Eco Tires are really designed for electric/hybrid cars. Are they really worth buying? How different is it from regular tires?

No experience with Toyo , but manufacturers are producing Low Rolling Resistance (LRR) tires to improve mileage and/or range. Michelin makes Energy Saver A/S that was standard on Honda Fit EV, Ford C-Max Energi PHEV, and Chevy Bolt EV. When I changed to Michelin Premier A/S (the non-LRR equivalent), range on both the Fit EV and C-Max Energy decreased about 7%. But, the Premier had better traction, especially in the (occasional) wet conditions.

I have not changed tires on the Bolt, but MotorTrend did, and switching to performance tires produced a 10.2% range penalty, and The mpg-e figure dropped by staggering 27 percent.

Not sure where you are located but have heard from other drivers who where not satisfied with LRR tires in their driving conditions. In mostly dry SoCal, this is less of an issue for me. "Are they really worth buying?" will depend on your circumstances.
