Quick question: is it normal for the battery to sort of "crash" in the last 30% of power?

In my experience the battery percentage goes down gradually (while driving) during the first 70% and then below 30% charge I get way less miles and it's empty before you can even blink.

No it isn't.
The only time I have seen that is in a car with a 'bad' battery.
The BMS did not know about a 'bad' cell or module until the SOC fell to about 50% and then it re-estimated the remaining energy much lower than before.

I have also seen a couple of videos on YouTube where cars have suddenly turtled at 15% SOC.
The likely reason was that the BMS was not calibrated and so the car thought there was a lot more energy than there actually was.
