Just wondering how insurance compares on a Soul EV to an equivalent ICE car? Lower because EV drivers tend not to be lunatics? Higher because the tech is more expensive?

I've seen higher based upon a couple of factors-
1. Newer vehicle=higher cost (standard)
2. Unknown costs for repair - especially for internal components
3. Plain guesswork on the part of the insurer

As always... good to shop around and see what rates are pre-discount. Currently I pay about 650/yr for my 12 Leaf SL... I'd expect Geico to come in about 700-725/yr for a new Soul...

UPDATE - Geico quoted me 670/ year full coverage to add - this would include several discounts however.

Call your carrier! ;)
Insurance rates are largely governed by replacement value. While MSRP for a gasoline Soul is $15,000-$20,000, MSRP for a Soul EV is about double.

Old vehicle was $121 95 honda civic 3mill liability comprehnsive + Collision $300 deductible

New 2016 Soul EV $148 same above!

I do have a large discount but im hoping the difference answers your query!
