Re: Upgrading the Korean Map

Upgraded to the April 2020 software a while ago now. (ST.PSEV.KR.E541.200401)
Only just noticed one interesting change.
The reversing camera screen has a settings icon in the top right.
When you click it you see this.

Image

-

The bug with the UVO advert at startup has not been fixed.
One of the the cars shows this every time it starts.

This advert appears at every startup - after the 'lawyerse babble' screen.
Clicking 'Later' clears the advert, but it appears again at next startup.
Image

The other shows this once every 30 days.

Another change that I just noticed. I don't know when it happened. The Navigation Settings page has been rearranged.

For example I wrote back in Jan 2017 from the Setup / Navigation Page / Address Book Tab you can now Import and Export Address Books.

Image

This has been changed to Setup / Navigation Settings / Others / User Data

One screen seems to have disappeared entirely. Originally my car had a driving info screen under the UVO settings.
Then from about August 2019 this screen button moved to the All Menus page.
Now I can no longer find this screen. I always prefer having more data shown by the car.
It's annoying to lose functionality.

Am now downloading the July 2020 software. (ST.PSEV.KR.E542.200731)

Good news for some outside Korea, the free navigation downloader is also available in US and Canada.
You can choose your country and language.

Image

and then choose which car to update
Image

-

Also the best change to the last update I forgot to talk about.
The real vehicle speed is always shown at the top left of the map.

-

Have now installed the July 2020 software. (ST.PSEV.KR.E542.200731)
It re-arranges the UI again, and updates the Bluetooth audio.

When you press the media button - page has a new light grey color scheme. Radio and DMB icons added.
Image

From the Setup Page you now see a choice General which was System before.
Image

Bluetooth audio now shows an album art icon if you have an Internet connection. It uses SoundHound.
I don't have UVO so I see a generic colorful icon. Instead of the bland music symbol seen before.
Image

Privacy Mode makes massive sense if you are in a rental car, and don't want the car to copy everything off your phone.

Am now downloading the September 2020 software. (ST.PSEV.KR.E542.200917)

The car gave an update message to say this was ready to download.

Image

Finally a photo of the real speed shown in the navi. It is not the same as the faster speed shown in the instrument cluster.
The real vehicle speed is always shown at the top left of the map. In this photo I am stopped at lights, the speed is zero.

Image

The change in this version is that the default setting is off.
The setting is in Navigation Settings / Display / Information / Show a Vehicle Speed.

Am now downloading the December 2020 software. (ST.PSEV.KR.E543.201202)

A new warning message before you start the install process.

Image

The new 'SW info' screen shows we have the 'Standard-class Gen4 Navigation'.

Image

I like the new 'Charging / Climate Settings' icon.

Have now installed the June 2021 software. (ST.PSEV.KR.E544.210511)
Again it doesn't seem to add much.

But it did cause 2 glitches.
1/ The Charge Timer lost the 80% setting. But did keep the time.
Image

2/ The energy consumption reset to 99.9
Image

Image

And it still has the UVO glitch every time I turn the car on.

Added the latest update - ST.PSEV.KR.E545.210709

Again not much new.

But for those with the new EV6 it does add a 'Kia Pay' option to automatically pay for EV chargers.
It brings Hyundai / Kia closer to Tesla where you can just plug in at a charger and be automatically billed.
This service requires the latest 5W navigation. The only other EV I have seen with this is the Ioniq 5
