Okay, so some background first: I had a 2016 Kia Soul EV+ (it was totaled in an accident - no injuries) and had updated the Navigation/Map software which added Android Auto and Apple Carplay among other things. One thing I noticed was that the overall experience of using the software was getting slower and slower. Usually right after I started the vehicle it would take up to a half minute before I could see anything in the rear camera view (black screen).

Anyway, I was able to find a 2018 Kia Soul EV+ with low miles and the head unit seems MUCH faster than the one in the 2016, but Android Auto is not installed (yet). So this got me thinking: Did the addition of Android Auto / Apple Carplay cause the slow down problems? I'm wondering if it's possible to update the map software but WITHOUT adding AA or AC. Anyone have any experience with this?

By the way, this 2018 also has the panoramic sunroof, which is really nice!
