    Winter Tires and Rims

I'm slightly confused, as the rim is the wheel. Perhaps your wheel was touching the strut or brake caliper? You could simply add a spacer disk, though keep it thin enough for sufficent thread engagement on the lugs. As we have 12mm lug studs, 12 mm of engagement is the minimum.

    Transmission housing cracked :(

Looks like the lowest auto wrecker's price is currently $1800 at car-part.com, so I'd be inclined to go for a new replacement. https://www.car-part.com/ Good Luck!

wE'Ve upgraded to a longer range model, EVen though our SOUL provides 120+ miles on the 30 kWH upgraded pack. Black with red roof, new LRR tires on the white insert wheels, and a great set of winter tires on bright red powdercoated SOUL rims. 119k miles, all recalls and updates performed, no...

    Transmission Failure

@PopcornAndData, can you get that battery removed for some lucky owner's out-of-warranty replacement? I already got mine, but am sure there's somebody on here ready and willing for a DIY swap. If not, our modules are desirable for DIY EV conversions, given their power and energy density. DIY...

    Charge station wouldn't stop

Thx, I hadn't seen any CHAdeMo handles with a manual feature to override a stuck latch, though I've had to pry back the button a few times on EVGO equipment.

Stuck in Turtle Mode After a Safety Recall

My 2016 set the HV warning light and "Check EV System" message last week. Dealer claimed to not have a loaner and wouldn't set up an Enterprise rental until instructed to do so by Corporate, so I went ahead and grabbed the rental. The SOUL was 'fixed' quickly with a software update, despite...

    another reduction gear gone bad...

Interesting, Biffidum, will stay tuned. I'm about to pass 200,000 km with no gearbox issues. (124k miles). I did replace the gear oil with GL4 at 120,000 km so will probably do so again at 200k for good measure.

    Private data info

Hi @Tsoi12, your car has a 3G modem that is obsolete and KIA refused to offer us upgrades. So no UVO remote features, and no data back to KIA of any kind.

    Electric Vehicle Brakes

Indeed, a cure looking for a disease, though does seem superior. I've dealt with sticky calipers on older cars before, and it was always related to rusty pins, water in the brake fluid, or bent/missing pad guides (those tiny stainless steel 'clips'). Never had a pad pop apart, but have had...

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

kimdavi, I saw similar pricing on the new and rebuilt replacement options when I finally got my new pack almost three years ago ($14,500 for the new pack) and was quoted a $2500 price if I wanted too keep the old core. I sure was pleased to get the new pack, it's performed like new for another...

Kia dealer has my SoulEV for 3+ months

Burst capacitors inside the charger were the main common problems on early Mitsubishi i-MiEV and Nissan LEAF as well. The i-MiEV community dove right in and many newbies have been successful with their first EVer board-level soldering since!

KIA of Portland OR, Ken Cornelison GM. - Liars, Thieves and Cheats...and Elder Abusers...

@BuffMedb one thing to double-check is what happened to member @BEC who was at first denied a warranty replacement but discovered the dealer had tested the 12 Volt battery! He explained the need to repeat the test with a different tool on the correct battery right then and there, and walked out...

    Kia buy back

Absolutely to the retail valuation (or a higher allowance towards a replacement KIA).

    All season tire

I’m happy with the efficiency of Bridgestone Ecopia 422, which is the consensus leader on LEAF forums. Its wet traction is far better than the original Nexens (discontinued), and can be had pretty inexpensively, I got the best price from WalMart.

    Tesla Fast Charge Adapter

Yes, I just have to take the time to do some logs and send 'em back. I've tested on all the major models of DCFC around here, Tritium, Delta, etc.. and also with my 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV. The adapter just blinks away happily as if waiting for a handshake, but the CCS1 pedestal EVentually...

    Tesla Fast Charge Adapter

I've been using a TESLA UMC as my road-tripping EVSE for a couple of years now, and plug it in with an adaptor. Yes, it's just a physical pass-through with no internal logic. Locuturus, I have the same CCS1 charger to CHAdeMO car adaptor. It hasn't worked yet, but I'm not a great partner...

    Allow me to introduce myself...

I'm running the Bridgestone Ecopia EP 422 Plus, as they're the most efficient tire among LEAF drivers, have good wet traction, and can be had for less than $100, often via WalMart. Not particularly quiet, but better dry traction than our original Nexen tires. Just took 'em out of winter...

KIA of Portland OR, Ken Cornelison GM. - Liars, Thieves and Cheats...and Elder Abusers...

Agreed, Buff. Stealerships are no place for nonprofessional buyers to do battle with professional sellers, especially in the shady world of used cars. I bought the SOUL EV specifically because I had a killer 151 mile per day commute that would kill the battery during the warranty period (with...

    Allow me to introduce myself...

Howdy back, Spidermonkey! Our 2016 got the battery replaced at 83k miles and is doing great at 108k. It does alright with winter traction tires, but is nowhere near the snowy hill-climber that our RWD Mitsubishi I-MiEVs are (two 2012 models). The MiEV has more cargo room and ground clearance...
