Just a quick fyi in case noone stopped to explain this. The reason why you got a “stop vehicle check brakes” notification, is because the power brakes motor used to create the vacuum is powered by your 12 volt battery. Basicly the car is warning you that you don't have power brakes anymore.

Well, had a look at the fan...really nothing to report. All practically brand new. I guess it is true. The battery pack is kept under vacuum by the fan, not pressure as I was expecting to find.

I can't speak for the Honda Clarity, but the Toyota Mirai I drove did not have any regen breaking at all. It behaved exactly as a gas powered car. It would roll and gain speed when going downhill, like a normal ICE vehicle.
