    Refill Coolant warning

I have the same issue - sporadic "Refill Coolant" warnings - on my 2020 Soul EV. I usually see them during really hot Summer days. More recently, though, I got one in the dead of Winter. In 3.5 years, it's cropped up maybe a half dozen times. The error goes away by itself quickly enough...

Range for Fully Charged(?) 2017 Soul

EVs have better range in warm/hot conditions vs. winter. No so much due to accessory use... When outside temperature falls near or below freezing, heaters come on to keep the batteries warm - and the batteries just don't work as well. Range can drop up to 50%. Charged up my 64kW Soul...

Kia Navigation Updater is available in US and Canada

Yet another map/menu update just release. So far just updated my 2020 EV. The last update was fantastic and a simple process. Not this time. Program to download/upload the map, then decompress re-write it, was incredibly slow. Hundreds or errors, which I had to get it to restart one by...

Kia Navigation Updater is available in US and Canada

I got an email notifying me of the update and jumped on it. Wasn't just a map refresh - but whole menu system. For my 2020 Soul EV, I just needed a 32GB USB memory stick. One handy feature on (the 2020 Soul) is it shows and verbally announces Traffic Cameras ahead (at least for my city)...

    Summer rims and tires

My EV Soul came with 215/55 all season tires on 17" rims. For winter driving, I swapped these out with 235/45 winter tires on 18" rims which I already had. These were from a non-EV Kia Soul. These are low-profile tires on a larger wheel, so gave the exact same tire height - but they are...

Charging Port Door Mechanism in WInter

Anyone else have issues with the charging port cover not opening in freezing/snowy conditions? On my (2020) Kia Soul, I found that when it was below zero or snowing, I couldn't open the charging door. I could get it to open by pouring warm water all around it (didn't feel entirely...

    How to stop charging?

On the 2020 Soul EV, you can unlock the charging cable before target charging is reached by pressing the remote unlock button on the key fob (and presumably using the UVO app).

Pre-heating cabin in winter without charging

Winter mode setting (selected from the car's menu on its lcd screen) keeps the battery warm - think of it like a block heater. The car doesn't need to be charging. My morning schedule isn't predictable, so instead of setting a timer, I turn on climate control to defrost windows, warm cabin...

    Wheel/Tire Change

Going to answer my own question - and ask a few more. With snow in the forecast, I took my winter tires (already mounted on rims) out of storage. These were from my (gas powered) 2016 Kia Soul SX, so are 235/45 on 18" wheels. These ended up fitting just fine on my 2020 Kia Soul EV Limited...

Using "trickle" charger on a NEMA 6-50 plug

In North America, maximum load for a circuit is 80% of breaker rating so for standard 15A/110 outlet, that means a maximum 12A charger. EU design may be limited by the UK, some of which utilises "ring circuit" wiring which permit a maximum appliance load of 2/3 (67%) of rated maximum, i.e...

Using "trickle" charger on a NEMA 6-50 plug

Strange! EV stations with 220v plugs only? You will probably destroy your 110V Level 1 charger if you try and run it using some adapter cable, which presumably does not alter voltage. At worst, you'd start a fire. If you really want/need to charge there, buy a plugable Level 2 charger.

    Wheel/Tire Change

I have a 2016 Kia Soul SX Luxury (gas version) and a 2020 Kia Soul EV Limited. The 2020 Soul EV comes with 17"wheels (with plastic inserts) and 215/55 tires. The 2016 Soul has 18" wheels with 235/45 tires. Lower profile and slightly wider tire, I am assuming the slightly-wider tire will fit...
