Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

I got the SC287 Recall notice about 2 weeks ago and called my local dealer. They said there are two recalls for my car (2016 Soul EV) and the other one is for the BMS software. From what I've been reading, maybe I don't want this "update"? My battery has been doing fine with no warnings or limp...

    No Heat!

Well, I have to admit that I failed to get to the temp control actuator today. I removed the lower panel with little trouble, but the instructions tell you to remove the driver's side shower duct after loosening the screw at the bottom. That did not work, at all. I removed the screw, but no...

    No Heat!

Thanks for the reply. I did some research and came to the same conclusion and I think this is the correct part, but I need to confirm it before I order it: https://www.kia.parts/oem-parts/kia-door-actuator-97159e4000 I plan to dig into it later today and find it. I did find that Kia still allows...

    No Heat!

I suddenly realized last night that my heat pump is not putting out any heat. I know the A/C was working less than a month ago, so I doubt that it's low on refrigerant. The dealer says they can't get me in until December! I did the climate control self diagnostics, and all it did was constantly...

    Dash rattle

I did. On mine it was the black trim around the gauges. Simply pried it off and crammed something behind it; can't exactly remember now, but probably some small adhesive tape or rubber. I also found that my garage door opener tends to rattle on the sun visor.

Is dealer SOH accurate or do I do my own?

I'm sure you'll enjoy the Leaf. My first EV was a 2013, and it was great except the range!

How to estimate SoH for Buying Used

Don't know anyone with an android phone or tablet? How about an Amazon Fire tablet? (Mostly the same thing, I think it could work) That is your best bet at knowing exactly where you are, but I think your math seems logical and I think you would get a new battery from what I know on mine. I get...

Selling 2012 Leaf for used 2017 Kia Soul EV

I made a similar move about 6 months ago, but from a 2013 Leaf to a 2016 Soul EV with 8600 miles. I find that my range is right around 100 miles, give or take depending on weather. It's starting to cool down here in the PNW, so my range is showing about a 10% drop into the high 90's lately. I...

Thinking of getting a higher mileage 2016

When you get the dongle hooked up and open the app, look for Car Information. Within a few seconds it should report the SOH in %.

    Soul Spy?

Anyone considering buying a dongle that doesn't already have one should know that it is a crap shoot at best. These are mostly Chinese knock-offs of the ELM 327 protocol, and some of them can actually be dangerous to use in your car. Buy the recommended one (KW 902) if at all possible! The last...

    Soul Spy?

I tried out the new updated program yesterday, and sure enough my SOH went from 107% to 100%. Does it still go up to 110% with a new battery?

    Soul Spy?

I have the Panlong also, and so far it works for my purposes, with some issues. At least you know that it does work, unlike some you might get that don't work at all. I had that issue when I used LeafSpy. Just did a quick search on Amazon, and they do have the Konnwei KW902 in stock...

    Strange buying opportunity

I highly recommend that you download the Soul Spy app and get an appropriate dongle, assuming you have an Android device you can pair it to. It will give you a good idea what the battery condition is. Bear in mind that there is a 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty on the battery in the U.S., which...

    Looking for my Second EV

I bought one off eBay, but this is cheaper than the one I got! https://www.ebay.com/itm/2016-Kia-Soul-Rear-Cargo-Black-Rubber-Trunk-Floor-Mat-OEM-LKQ-/192964555854?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10

    Looking for my Second EV

Typical of dealer misinformation, but the owners manual makes it pretty clear. I bought a CPO just so there was no question about it!

    Looking for my Second EV

Everything I have read says that the EV system (which includes the battery and OBC) is covered for 10 years/100,000 miles to any owner. The powertrain warranty is only good for 5 years to the second owner and on. That would be axles, trans-axle, bearings, etc.

    Looking for my Second EV

A couple things to consider: Is there a Kia dealer near you that is certified to work on EV's? As you know, there isn't a lot of maintenance with an EV, but if your OBC goes bad (which does seem to be common with these) you'll need to get it to a dealer who can deal with it. The other thing to...

    Looking for my Second EV

I had a 2013 Leaf for a couple years, and I loved it...except for the styling. It probably comes down to how you feel about the Leaf vs. a Soul, but the difference is not great EXCEPT the warranty. The 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty on the traction battery was the deciding factor for me, after...

    Soul Spy?

Of course, you are right. I shouldn't just make a blanket statement like that. It does work well enough for the most part, and it is cheap and small! I'm at work and typing on my phone, so I just was keeping it short. I will get those files to you in the near future!
