What car will you be pursuing, or have your eye on next?

I recently visited a Tesla store and was told that if I put a deposit down now on a Model 3 I might not receive it until 2020. EV technology is changing so rapidly that I'm not interested in buying a used one, and I'm not that interested in the handful of new EVs that are available in...

eco level indicator appears inaccurate lately

Ha! When I first got my Soul I found the 'Eco Level' inaccurate and misleading. I had to Google your question to figure out what you were referring to because over time I forgot that was even an available setting :)

    Car not holding charge

If I understand you correctly, when you plug in the car will begin charging and at some point simply stop charging. Does the 'Fault' light light up on your charging cable when that happens? If so, I experienced that myself. For a little while I would check on my car ever half hour or so and...

    Battery charge to miles allowed

What is the weather like where you live? Battery chemistry is less effective at cold temperatures, so EVs always have less range during the winter.

    End of lease vehicles

I've got three and a half months to go on my lease. I intended to discuss my lease-end options when I visited the Kia dealership last week, but after pouring over the new Stinger GT and taking it for a test drive I ran out of time to ask. I'll post again when I find out more. PS - In case...

If you have not already done so, please report this to your Kia dealer RIGHT AWAY.

    Range from 100% Charge Dropping

Yes, your dealer is able to run a diagnostic on the health of your vehicle's battery pack to determine its actual max charge capacity and to identify defective cells.

Battery Charging to 100% only getting 75 miles

The projected range on a full charge correlates in large part to recent driving efficiency. What Energy Consumption values are you seeing in your car's ECO Driving > Driving History screen? I mentioned this in another recent thread, but there several factors that determine the predicted range...

    Charging Fault error.

I agree completely. For the past two and a half years my Soul has been a fantastic, practical, economical vehicle for my family. I've enjoyed owning and driving this car much more than I thought I would. However, charging faults related to an issue with the OBC caused me a degree of stress and...

    Charge 100percent 143 k

There several factors that impact the predicted range that you see displayed -- state of charge, heating/air conditioning use, exterior temperature... but the most significant is your recent driving efficiency. Even if charged to 100% each night, your predicted range may vary from day to day...

What car will you be pursuing, or have your eye on next?

I've test driven several BMW i3s since I last posted in this thread. What a strange car. It's still a contender for when my lease is up, but of all the cars I've ever considered buying, the i3 causes the most polarizing feelings I've ever experienced. The i3's acceleration and handling is far...

End of the line for combustion engines?

In recent years, car makers have invested countless millions in their engine programs due to the horsepower wars and ever-increasing emissions/efficiency targets. But now it looks like we may have reached the end of the line for combustion engines. Autoline (an auto industry news source in the...

    Lease Return or Buyout

As I near the end of my lease I'm starting to think that I would really like to keep this car, but only for the right price... $15,000 is way too much when off-lease Leafs can be had for half as much. On the other hand, early production Tesla Model 3's are selling for nearly $50,000 and used...

    Driving Diary

I'm really pleased. When I first signed my lease I wasn't sure whether, over time, the car's available range would still be adequate for my needs because of battery deterioration. After 30 months I'm still able to easily beat the advertised range of 93 miles (150 km) despite the fact that my...

    Driving Diary

My Soul EV just spent a month at the dealer to get the OBC replaced. I'm excited to have it back -- the ordinary Soul + rental car that I have been driving in the mean time just is *not* the same.

    Mid-2017 : New Soul (30kWh) has 2 new colors !

I recently saw a Black Abyss on the road. I like the silver painted accents, but the net result is that the visual differences between this car (EV) and the regular (gasoline) Soul are very subtle.

    Can't charge at level 1.

I'm having a similar problem with my car. In my case seems to be temperature related--the higher the ambient temp, the increased chance that charging at 110v will stop and a fault will be indicated on the Kia EVSE power cord.
