    Soul Spy?

It has a long time bothered me that we never could catch the algorithm used in the workshop instrument. I have been playing around with my logged data and the actual readings from my service visits for the old 2015 Soul EV. I have a suggestion for an improvement of this algorithm. SOH = 100 *...

    Battery Ageing Model

The screenshot on the previous post made me check some statistics from my old 2015 Soul. The interesting numbers are the Max and Min Deterioration Cell numbers. They show Max det #2 and Min det #8. My car had a change in deterioration numbers at 148 occations. The Min det was #8 in 76%, the Max...

    Battery Ageing Model

. This summer and fall there was a campaign on the 30kWh Soul here in Sweden, where Kia offered a 60,000 SEK (¨€6,000) rebate on top of the 60,000 SEK state incentive. In Juli I asked my dealer for a trade in and got a deal I couldn't reject. Took a long time, but this week I finally picked up...

    Battery Ageing Model

. Just had my car in for 105000km service and got new SOH reading from the KDS instrument: Odometer: 106736km SOH: 97.5% My own readings from OBD: Max det: 13.1 Min det: 11.4 Avg SOH: 97.8%

Firmware update to DC fast charge to 94%?

It seems there are now more than one update of the BMS software out there, since you had it twice and there are more reports on fastcharging to 94%. My car is still stopping the fastcharge at 84% after the update in 2017-04, but it shows a slightly different behaviour now. Most notable is that...

    Battery Ageing Model

It seems the picture host service I have been using has changed their base url, so all my posted pics are gone :( I'll give it another try. Here are my latest deterioration numbers, at 102,000 km: Max det: 11,2% Min det: 7,5% Avg SOH: 100,7% Avg SOH plotted from the start: In this one, the...

    Battery Ageing Model

In most European countries the limit is 150,000km, so the warranty of my car will end sometimes late next year... We have had an unusual winter with longer periods of cold weather and lots of snow in my area. My deterioration numbers have not changed during november to march, and I think it is...

Setting up Torque to show BMS data

. The charge curve looks normal, 3h at 14.5V followed by 13.6V float, although in my car the Amps level out at 4A, which seems as a reasonable load by the ECU:s and the OBC+LDC, so not much current goes into the 12V bat. And yes, you are perfectly correct about the sensor, it's a current shunt...

Setting up Torque to show BMS data

. Unfortunately it seems that only members can see pictures from elbilforum.no ... Regarding strategies for 12V charging, one must keep in mind that lead-acid batteries in general have a resting voltage of 12.8V when fully charged, and should then not be held at 14V+ for prolonged times. When...

Setting up Torque to show BMS data

The DCDC output current is available in the Torque PID:s It's the 004_DC_Current_Out,AmpsOut line. You also have the DCDC Voltage output there. It is mostly slightly higher than the 12V battery voltage, due to the voltage drop. From the first page of this thread: , Low-Voltage DC-DC Converter...

Setting up Torque to show BMS data

Yes, we did not come to consensus about these values at previous investigations, but after logging almost all use and charging for two years I am now convinced that they represent the "EWP Speed" (Climate1) and "EWP Control Target RPM Request" (Climate2), just as layed out on the GDS tester...

Setting up Torque to show BMS data

Note that the value of "Eco" is the status of the button itself, not the status of the "ECO function". The button toggles the function at each press, but we can only catch the realtime status of the button.

    Charging Fault error.

. Jejusoul, sorry to hear you got this problem too.. mine is still doing well (knock on wood..) I had this OBC firmware update (or corresponding, the european OBC HW is apparently different) 3 months ago when doing the 75000km service. There was no notable function change afterwards, except...

    BMS software update

Actually, it's 96S2P.. :geek: The important thing here is wheather or not the BMS software has been upgraded, and what impact that would bring. Observing different behaviors, before and after, is the only way (for us) to draw a conclusion because Kia probably won't tell... If any warranty...

    BMS software update

It seems likely that you have not had the BMS upgrade - for me, the very common 82% balancing (just as you describe it) totally disappeared after the upgrade. Though, since then I have not seen any QC balancing at all, except for the very first time I had a 94% QC. Also, that time it was shorter...

    BMS software update

Yes, it seems plausible that it's related to the climate control in the battery. If so, we will perhaps notice something during winter. Did your counters for cumulative kWh, Ah and active time, as well as the deterioration numbers reset, as they did for me?

    BMS software update

. Catching up for a passed summer.. ;) Yesterday I had the 75000 km service. The SOH value is now 99.7%. My deterioration numbers changed the night before to 11.0/8.9. There was a firmware upgrade of the OBC. Have not seen any functional differences yet, but the OBD2 data format has changed...

Comparing BMS data on the Soul EV with the Ray EV

. It seems there are lots of bad charging stands out there. Obviously their PWM signal indicates 32A regardless what cable is attached. This is a serious safety issue.

Comparing BMS data on the Soul EV with the Ray EV

. Either the cable or the Type2 power outlet must be failing in providing the security it should. Can you check the resistance between PP and PE on the Type2 connector of the 16A cable. If it's around 680 ohms then the cable should be ok, but the outlet is ignoring the cable restriction. If it's...
