Soul EV sales target for 2014

Well, I guess I'll find out come November, when my lease is up. But I'm not hopefull. Most will go to the west coast. 5000 cars is like 2 months sales for a LEAF, just in the US, so 5000 for year, worldwide, doesn't hold much promise for one at my local dealer.

Soul EV sales target for 2014

I mean if they're only making 5000 to sell worldwide, the odds are against any coming to MA this fall. MA not being one of their initial target states.

    Soul EV alternate discussion thread

There is, but it's embedded in the Soul EV thread, which I think has more posts than this entire forum to date. But you have to start somewhere. Once they actually sell some, this oum should pick up.

    Soul EV alternate discussion thread

Thought I'd put up a link to the Soul EV thread on the LEAF forum, for anyone interested and trying to gather more info. http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=13531

I thought the Soul EV was going to be 100 miles plus?!

No clue, sorry. In ideal weather, at 30 mph, no hills, you could probably get over 100 miles, but That's not "real world", not here anyway.

I thought the Soul EV was going to be 100 miles plus?!

If you can rely on 70-80 miles from a new LEAF in 70F weather with 24kW, then 85-95 miles from a 27kW Soul seems reasonable. Is a Soul heavier? Seems less aerodynamic too.

Soul EV sales target for 2014

All 5000 could be sold just in Korea, given the incentives there. Even if it's overpriced here, someone will buy one. This is bad news for me, it raises the odds that I won't even have the opportunity to lease one in the fall. Ah well, maybe 2017.

Pricing in South Korea, US similar?

$39,400? Plus shipping from Korea? Looks like I'll have to stay with the LEAF, especially if they roll out a 150 mile range model around $35,000. But, maybe this will be different come the fall?

Kia Soul EV charge marketing issue?

It's a mistake. KIA hasn't learned anything from Nissan's mistakes apparently. Nissan has to give away CHAdeMO units here in New England, to get anyone to install them, and they're all rated 50kW. It's going to be a while before anyone wants to upgrade to 100kW.

    Available nationwide?

I'm in MA, and we should have a rebate program in place when the Soul arrives. You'd think they'd want to sell it here, as well as GA, WV, CO, or any place where incentives will help drive sales. Maybe they're not going to make that many? If it's not here, I'll probably lease a new LEAF. If the...

Should I but a LEAF or Soul EV?

LEAF does not have a heated pack. It has six small battery warmer units that come on at -14F (IIRR) and shut off when the pack gets back up to 4F. They're only to keep the pack from freeze damage, you can't control them to keep the pack warm, not rated for that kind of duty cycle, but a pack...

Welcome to the Kia Soul EV Forum

Hi! I'm member #14! Sorry, I'm used to the LEAF forum, where I'm member #14,288, or so. My lease is up in November, and the Soul EV looks pretty good, if they sell in here in MA. (Admin, no location identifier in profile in this forum?) We've sat in the gas version, and it seems nice...
