OBC Not Working But Need Charging

On my 2016 Soul EV+ the OBC died but DC charging was unaffected. I simply took it to a Kia dealership and they replaced it at no cost. My understanding is that during DC charging the OBC is bypassed and all charging control happens on the charger side. If neither charging option is working then...

Car stuck at dealer for 3 months awaiting warranty battery replacement (2017 Soul EV)

When I was waiting for my replacement battery to arrive (you're lucky: mine took almost nine months!) my case manager from Kia said that the way they did it was they built batteries as needed (replacement specifically for the Soul since their other EVs use a different battery) in South Korea and...

Kia dealer has my SoulEV for 3+ months

The ability to charge to only 80% was removed from 2018 Kia Soul EVs (and possibly others) because of an EPA complaint, but although the decision was reversed, Kia never updated the firmware to allow this to happen. I really wish Kia would release a firmware update to bring this back.

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

When I had the battery replaced on my 2016 Soul EV the invoice listed the price as just under $9000. Is the $15000 in Canadian dollars?

    All season tire

I thought the 2020 Soul EV had a 64kwh battery. I didn't know they offered smaller battery options.

    Infotainment Spontaneous Reboot?

I've got a 2018 but my old 2016 used to do the same thing a few times a year. I've had it freeze or stop responding to the volume control a few times too (reset with a paper clip stuck in the tiny hole on the head unit for a few seconds). The infotainment unit has always been the one thing with...

    Refill Coolant warning

I have a Gen 1 (2018) but this sounds like a bad sensor or loose connection to me. I had a similar warning one time on my 2016 a few months after I bought it (used). It was about an eighth of an inch low on coolant, so I filled it to the top (of the "max" line) and pushed all the connectors in...

    Driving mode B on highway?

If I'm driving on the highway for more than a short distance I usually take it off 'B' mode and just use 'D'. If highway traffic is uncongested then it probably won't matter.

$10,000 to fix a Kia Connect problem?

I have a 2018 Soul EV and the bluetooth also takes FOREVER to connect (half a minute to a minute. Occasionally longer). When I was waiting for my battery to be replaced (which took almost nine months!) I was given a rental to use. It was a gas-powered 2020 Hyundai Sonata. Decent car, but the...

    Odd Acceleration Behavior

Some people were reporting that it only seems to happen while in non-Eco mode. Did the tech say anything about that? I'm not having this issue but just wondering.

80% or 100% charge scheduling not starting when programmed. 2016 Soul EV+

There is the OVMS (Open Vehicle Monitoring System) that supports newer modem technology and many EVs including the Soul EV: https://docs.openvehicles.com/en/latest/components/vehicle_kiasoulev/docs/index.html The Soul EV branch is no longer being updated, but its current level of control is...

80% or 100% charge scheduling not starting when programmed. 2016 Soul EV+

This is too bad, too, because if it did then the EVSE itself could be used to stop charging at 80%. I suppose a smart EVSE could detect that charging has slowed dramatically and conclude that it is at the 80-90% capacity point of the battery, but I don't know if any exist.

Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) firmware : (November 2023 - another recall)

Thanks for that video link, JejuSoul. It was interesting to watch (but thank goodness for subtitles!). Nice to know there is a (small) industry out there who can repair electric cars outside of warranty. Some even do battery capacity upgrades (most notably for the Nissan Leaf). I'd love to see...

    Odd Acceleration Behavior

I have a 2018 and previously had a 2016 Kia Soul EV, but never noticed this behavior in either one. I always keep it in Eco Mode and 'B' (unless I'm driving on the highway for an extended period of time, then I'll switch to 'D' mode). If you feel it is potentially dangerous I would definitely...

    Adventure Begins !

I use SoulEVSpy app and it seems to be useful, though it hasn't been updated in a long time. As for possibly getting your battery replaced, I would definitely work through Kia Customer Care as much as possible as they may be able to pull some strings as far as a loaner goes. Maybe I got lucky...

Ioniq 19’s on my 2011 base

Looks nice, but this is the wrong forum. This forum is for the fully electric Soul EV.

Battery Recall for cars with E400 high-voltage battery.

I have a 2018 Soul EV and have only received the recall notice for the parking brake firmware update. Maybe I don't have the E400 battery? In any case, the car is working perfectly, including the battery which still shows 114 miles on full charge with about 40,000 miles on it.

12V battery in 2016 Kia Soul EV keeps dying

For about $30US you can connect one of these bluetooth 12V battery monitors that sends real-time info to your phone about your 12V battery: https://a.co/d/3jflBLv

Kia dealer has my SoulEV for 3+ months

Yeah, and even better, the warranty covers not just the original owner but subsequent owners too. When I was researching which used EV to buy (because I couldn't afford a new one), that was the main point that made me go with Kia and I have not regretted that decision. But that was only 2015...

    New recall: electric parking brake

I had this same issue when i was having my 2016 towed a few years back. Luckily there's an easy fix: Just push down the EPB release and keep it held down as you turn off the vehicle. This will force it to stay released. Be sure to hold the EPB button down until it is completely shut down. Unless...
