How can I prove it's a bad cell. You mention a notification...

The SOH is not showing anything wrong with the car. I'm not sure they connected it to a system which output the BMS info -- do dealers even have that? To be honest, they have pretty much no idea how to diagnose EV issues at the dealership...

Have you tried this software ?
https://elbil.spjeldager.dk/app-debug-v7.apk

If you install it on a android device you can see the volt of all your cell's including those extra in the 30kw battery (2018 model)
It also make log files so you can go back and if there is any cell that is way out compared to all other cell's you will see it

This is a sample from my 2018 model, not fully charged

The BMS software update is known as Service Action 297

FWIW, I took my '15 Soul EV into dealer today for the SC155 Steering Gear Pinon recall.
They installed the SA297 BMS Logic Improvement and the SA306 OBC update at the same time.

Today I went to the garage for the recall of the Electronic Braking System software update in the Netherlands. After the software update was finished, I was told that also another update popped up (brand new?) for the BMS. They could not tell me what the update did, but apparently an improvement. Now again all my counters are reset, so Torque shows 110% SOH

This morning I left with 100% and 155 km range and after the BMS reset I had with 78% still 155 km range.
Of course the BMS must learn that my SOH is around 91% with 133500 km driven (6 years old) and I cannot trust the km left.

This is the third time the BMS is updated/reset:
27-6-2017 SA297?
18-7-2018 SA297?
17-9-2020 SA427?

Maybe the BMS update is the one mentioned in this post: SA427 PSEV BMS/FATC Logic Improvement

I found this information

July 21, 2020
Components, Electric System
NHTSA ID Number: 10177748

Manufacturer Communication Number: TSB_ELE203

Summary

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: SERVICE ACTION: BMS/FATC OPERATION LOGIC IMPROVEMENT WHILE BATTERY CHARGING (SA427) - This bulletin provides the procedure to upgrade the Battery Management System (BMS) and Full Auto Temperature Control (FATC) software on some 2016-2017MY Soul (PS EV) vehicles, produced from May 21, 2015 through August 29, 2017, in order to improve air conditioning operation while the battery is charging.

I have never had a BMS update in 5 years on my blue car.
The white car got a BMS upgrade when they changed the battery.

I assume that these fixes are cumulative so that the latest update includes all the previous ones.
Have you noticed many changes since these updates were done.

I do not think they are cumulative, but if they install the updates, I think those updates will be installed all (one after each other). So did this update also pop-up when the EPB update was done.

Unfortunately resulting in another BMS reset.

I did not see really difference, the last update is only meant for Air-conditioning while charging, when you have configured this. I do not preheat or precool my car.

I had once a flat 12 V battery, therefore there was a LCM update. After replacement of the 12 V battery and this update, the 12V battery still is Ok. Although I also disabled GPS time, because there were also people suspecting battery drain because the GPS unit was not shutting down correctly always.

I saw this post from someone who had just got the most recent BMS update done. ( SA427)

Here is a list of the various ROM-IDs for each of the BMS Firmware updates on the original Soul EV.

This is badly translated from the Korean as is so often the case with Hyundai / Kia.
E4050 - 'Elevated Temp' actually means with Battery Heater.
E4000 - 'Non-Heating' means without Battery Heater.

I still think that if you get the latest update it will include all the previous ones as a cumulative fix.

My blue car bought in 2015 has never had a BMS update.
I had it serviced recently and still no updates.
