Air Bag Recall

I just received an air bag recall on my 2019 Soul EV. Just curious about anyone else and how many cars are affected. Apparently it is not specific to the EV since the recall involves ICE models as well. I haven't call the dealer yet to schedule, but based on what the recall said, for me it would just be a software update, not replaced of the air bag control unit. Makes me wonder how a software update fixes what looks like a hardware/manufacturing defect.

It could be something like a correction to the diagnostic software to address false alarms.

If there is hardware damage then they replace the control unit. If not you get a software update to make sure that even if damage occurs then the airbags will go off in a crash.
