I used to keep track of the original Soul EV data. see SK Innovation doubles EV battery production
That finished two years ago. Final tally was.
The figures are ( Year :- Overseas + Domestic = Total )
Code: Select all
2014 :- 1,017 + 414 = 1,431
2015 :- 7,286 + 1,116 = 8,402
2016 :- 7,123 + 729 = 7,852
2017 :- 8,666 + 2,511 = 11,177
2018 :- 8,645 + 1,746 = 10,391
2019:- 759 + 0 = 759
Final total = 40,012
The numbers for the new 64kWh Soul EV (also called eSoul, Soul Booster, Soul Electric.) are very similar. (i.e. still very low!)
For example in 2021 the overseas sales were 8680.
For all cars exported out of Korea ( probably more than 95%) see - : Kia: Investor Relations - Monthly Sales Results
You need to download the Overseas Retail Sales spreadsheet.
Thanks for the tip, I did just that! Wow, the Soul EV is proportionally more popular in Canada than anywhere else, it seems! The Soul EV sold 1,203 units in Canada and 8,087 in Europe in 2021. That's vs. the e-Niro selling 2,344 in Canada and 47,306 in Europe.
The Niro EV beats it only 2:1 in Canada, but nearly 6:1 in Europe! Most other markets either don't have the Soul EV, or don't seem to sell a lot of them. And from what you're saying, South Korea has the Soul EV but it's a niche model there too. Given the Canadian market is pretty small, and it sells 10-12k units a year globally, 1203 units just in Canada is very strong! I wonder why we like the Soul EV proportionately so much more in Canada than other markets do?
The MY2022 Soul Electric is sold here in Korea and comes with the same navigation screen and software as the new EV6. But I have never seen one. Lots of the EV6 around though.
Huh... I saw the Kia Hyundai Channel on Youtube review the new entry-trim (smaller battery) 2022 Soul EV, but not the 64 kWh model yet.
