27,000 miles 86-mile range; my Soul EV commute is over

When I brought it in to Kia again with print out proving significant degradation in range, they fixed a few things that fixed the problems: 1. PSEV BMS logic improvement 2. OBC Update, inspection, and replace That fixed the problem. Now I'm getting 105 miles

Battery Charging to 100% only getting 75 miles

new SoulEV range estimate at 100% dropped

There is definitely a flaw in the Soul EV battery. Mine started at 105 miles range and held that for 6 months. After 6 months it gradually dropped until it is now 80 miles range at 18 months. Driving habit same and on ECO mode all this time. I bought my Tesla same time and put more miles on it...

Battery Charging to 100% only getting 75 miles

I bought my Tesla same time last year and put more miles on it. At full charge range is still same as when I just bought it. Have lost 0% range now at 10,000 miles and 20 months later. Maybe Kia Soul EV battery is low quality?

Battery Charging to 100% only getting 75 miles

Same here, First 9 months I was getting 105 miles per charge. Now 18 months later I'm getting 75 miles per charge. That's a big drop off. I'm bringing my car into dealer to get it looked at for the second time. Good thing is that I have on record that a year ago I was getting 104 miles on charge...

    Creaking sound in the front

No, It squeaks right when I brake and the car is slowing down. I suspect it has to do with suspension.

    Creaking sound in the front

When I slow down my 2016 Kia Soul EV, there is a loud creaking sound like a tree bending in the wind. I brought it to dealer and they can't figure it out. Does anybody have the same problem?

    Future Battery Upgrade

Thanks for encouragement. My wife said the same thing. It's about environment. Helps. I actually bought a Model S. Musk said Model S owners help make model 3 possible. Economically, buying electric now is not sound but other factors do matter. There's a chance that Model 3 will not get the tax...

    Future Battery Upgrade

I am bummed that I paid $32k for Soul that goes 100 miles and next year Tesla Model 3 comes out at $35k and goes 215 miles. It will also have more than double cargo space due to the front trunk availability and being longer. What I hope is that maybe Kia will allow battery upgrade when more...

Comparison Of Fuel Economy for Battery Electric Vehicles

I bought a white car for this reason. Heat will kill a Lithium battery faster than anything else. It will not only compromise performance but degrade the battery permanently. I live in CA so heat is more problem than cold.

    Not charging on schedule

I had same problem so called kia support and they were very good. You have to make sure the button next to "chargeport open" button with logo of a clock and charge cable is not press down. Press it one more time if it's down to deactivate manual charging and allow for timed charging. When you...

    Kia "CHARGE UP" Card

Dealer did not know anything but I found KiaCharge card in glove compartment and it turns out I can use it at all charging stations. Mostly free. You have to go and sign up with all networks though. No chargepoint indicated on it but I was able to register the card on chargepoint and it works...

    Kia "CHARGE UP" Card

Dealer did not know about it but I found it in glove compartment when I got home. I registered and it is pretty good. You can charge at Chargepoint, NRG, Blink, Greenlots. All free for first 2 hours. NRG fast charge is free for first 30 minutes for first 60 days. After 60 days, I'll have my...

    Making Soul more aerodynamic

My only beef is that the car is not very aerodynamic so I can't get as much range as I like. I read that the drag is .35 which is high for electric. Does anyone have any recommendation where I can get modifications done or buy modifications to reduce drag. Maybe a front faring and rear wheel...

Welcome to the Kia Soul EV Forum

Here in Bay area and dealers are not pushing Kia Soul EV because they say they don't make much money on it but I chose it for combo of range and cargo dimension when seats folded down. I can fit big furniture and appliances in there because opening in back is very wide and tall. Tons of head...

    Favorite Car Colors?

I have white and it looks sharp and space age look. Black tinted windows with black lines and tires makes it look like space shuttle and it keeps car cool in summer. The battery is air cooled and not active cooled so better to keep the battery cool to minimize degradation in summer.

I thought the Soul EV was going to be 100 miles plus?!

I get 110 to 120 miles on my 2016 Soul. You have to put it in ECO mode which accelerates slower and regen brake more

    Level 1 stops at 80%

Kia says only 80% allowed for 120 V charge to maximize life of battery

    What's up with 84% charge on L3??

I talked to Kia and they say to protect the battery on fast charge, it's supposed to shut off at 86%. I got mine to 94% before it shuts off. Overcharging can kill the battery according to them so getting over 90% is not great for battery
