Burning plastic smell

I have a burning plastic smell when I use the cabin air heater. (Got car ten days ago). I think it is giving me a headache. Is this just a new car thing that will go away soon, or should I be worried that something in the air heating system is about to catch on fire?

Same here, had it in the morning when outside temp was low and heating had to work...

I have had the car nearly 2 months now, and the burning plastic smell is still there every morning when I first run the heater. It is getting a little better, I think. If it were some residue from the factory, I would have thought it would be all burned off by now.

I have the same experience. I wear one of those "plastic" waterproof hi-vis jackets, and I wonder if that on the heated seat may be the cause. I'll try with the seat off.

I tried with the seat heating off - no smell. I then tried with it on again - no smell. So, inconclusive.
