Range question

Tue Jul 21, 2020 6:36 am

I have to make a 200 mile trip on mainly interstate highways. As a new owner, how many miles should I plan between charging stops

It is very dependent on weather. If it is hot, you will want to use the aircon, etc, and we don't know if you have a 27kWh or 30 kWh model, and what the battery SOH is. To be safe, plan on 70 miles. After your 2nd recharge, you will be able to judge whether you will need a 3rd before journey's end.

The battery is a 27kWh. Not sure of the SOH. I do know a full charge yields 100 miles

I prefer not to discharge below 20%, so perhaps you could use 80 miles? That gives a reasonable reserve for unexpected inefficiencies - do you sometimes have highways blocked by accidents, for example?

Accidents are always a possibility. I have some mapping software that shows me charging stations along my route. First stop is 76 miles. Second is 68 miles. Then about 50 miles to final destination

That sounds good.
